He enlisted in Winnipeg, Manitoba, 23rd July 1915, stating his occupation as 'none' and his next of kin as his father, James A. Wildgoose, of 204, Arnold Avenue, Winnipeg. He had previously served with the 34th Fort Garry Horse and the Winnipeg Grenadiers. He was five feet four and a half inches in height, had a dark complexion, brown eyes and dark brown hair, and he was a Methodist. He had a mole on his left wrist.
